Basso Bikes: Quality Gravel and Road Bikes made in Italy, Built on Decades of Experience
Basso Bikes, a brand that commits to keeping manufacturing in-house, is nestled between the grandeur of the Dolomites and the North Eastern Italian city of Treviso. We are proud to stock a brand striving to continue the long history of the handcrafted production process, combining engineering and manual skills to create bikes that are not only high-performance but also durable and aesthetically beautiful.
Why is Basso an excellent bike brand?
Basso's innovation comes from its ability to conduct in-house research and development to constantly improve materials, finishes and design.
Where are Basso bikes made?
Unlike comparable high-performance bicycle brands like Cannondale, Cervelo, Canyon, Salsa, Santa Cruz and Specialized, who outsource all production to Asia, Basso manufactures their bikes in Italy, allowing them to:
make regular updates and innovations to a bike model
have a very high level of quality control
work with material combinations not used in factories in China and Taiwan
The Basso Tera: the ultimate gravel bike
A fantastic example of the power of Basso's in-house production is the Basso Tera Gravel and Basso Tera Urban models, both of which use their pioneering mixed-material semi-suspension frame. Combining the best properties of carbon fibre and aluminium has enabled Basso to create a comfortable riding position without compromising on snappy handling.
Both Tera models use internal cable routing, displaying Basso's continued focus on creating bikes with visually pleasing design as well as bringing high-end design to every level of bicycle in their range.
The Tera Gravel is a fantastic adventure bike, allowing riders to enjoy a responsive riding experience whilst still being comfortable for long days in the saddle. Four bottle cage mounts and a chunky 45mm of tyre clearance show that Basso expects the Tera Gravel to be used for bikepacking trips and aims to provide you with the tool to explore.
The Tera Urban uses the same frame design as the Tera Gravel; the sleek internal cable routing and semi-suspension make this a fantastic high-performance commuter bike that still has the tyre clearance capability to get dirty on weekends. Equipped with Maxxis Re-Fuse tyres giving you a fast rolling set-up with a soft compound for grip and width for further comfort riding in all conditions. One of our favourite features of the Tera Urban is the fitted mudguards, an excellent example of Basso's ability to solve a technical problem with an elegant solution.
Basso bikes for sale
Although we have access to the full Basso range, we have decided to focus on stocking their more off-road adventure-focused models, the Tera Gravel, Tera Urban and the Palta. These versatile models will resonate with our UK customers, allowing them to make the most of locations as varied as the Isle of Purbeck to the Isle of Arran and ride quickly and comfortably on all roads in between.

One of the stand-out carbon gravel bikes on the market is the Basso Palta, combining Basso's history of creating exceptionally well-designed performance road bikes with a desire to approach gravel cycling a little differently.
Palta is a local Italian dialect word for dirt or mud; Basso has worked hard to create a gravel bike that maintains the ability for high-speed riding whilst still handling the agility to ride over challenging terrain. Versatile geometry allows cyclists to customise their riding set-up to lean more towards an aggressive racing or a relaxed adventure riding position.
Used in the unsupported ultra-cycling gravel race across the Badlands in the Spanish desert, the Palta is aimed at riders who enjoy the thrill of riding at speed. Equipped with everything you would expect of a high-end carbon gravel bike, including ample 45mm tyre clearance, thru-axles, Di2 compatibility, internal cable routing and quality hydraulic drop bar groupsets. Constant development from Basso means the 2023/24 season will see the introduction of the Palta II, further pushing the envelope of speed-driven gravel bike innovation.

Basso:
‘The first mixed-material, semi-suspension, performance-oriented gravel solution on the market. Taking the best properties of not one, but two materials and constructing a better way to explore new horizons.
