Brother in the Wild Dorset 2023
The breathtaking Brother in the Wild bikepacking adventures started in April 2017. And luckily for our community, the Brother Cycles founders, brothers Will and James, organised the first one near our home town in Dorset, through the magical New Forest, for some on and off-road fun!
It's now 2023, and bikepacking has become ingrained in the lifestyle of many people we know and love. We dream of campfires, cookouts, and coffee in the dreary winter months. And visualise those challenging uphill routes for glorious downhills, secluded swim spots, beers in the sun and star gazing at night.

It's inspiring how many cycling communities have started and grown since 2017. We are stoked to live in an era where supportive and inspirational organisations make the fun of cycling accessible to all.
We were introduced to Brother Cycles just before they began developing plans for the first-ever Brother in the Wild by our friend Harvey of Cycle PS in London. We're proud to have been one of the first Cycle Shops outside London to stock the beautiful Brother Frames.
What food and drink will be at Brother in the Wild, Dorset?
If you are attending this year's Brother in the Wild weekend adventure in the Purbecks in Dorset, you will find us in our little blue Velo Domestique Caravan providing all your food and drink needs.
Here are the 2019 menus for a taster of what we will serve you for breakfast and dinner.
Environmental impact: Biodegradable and recyclable packaging
As the longest-standing food and drink vendor at Brother in the Wild, we've worked with Will and the Brother Cycles crew year-on-year to minimise our offering's environmental impact. We couldn't be happier to see this ethos being extended to the rides themselves, with Brother Cycles partnering with Trash Free Trails for the 2nd consecutive year to try and reduce the event's and its rides' impact on the environment.
As with all of our off-site events, we continue to exclusively serve food and drink in biodegradable and recyclable packaging or, even better, your own reusable cups and plates.
We've always been impressed with the brands that have decided to support Brother in the Wild, and this year is no different; tyre manufacturing legends and rubber recycling pioneers Schwalbe as well as more recent additions Rab. Rab don't just share our love of the great outdoors but also our passion for bringing great coffee to great people with minimal impact on the environment. This year Rab is supporting BITW Dorset by providing all riders with a FREE enamel mug.

New to 2023! The 'Sip 'n' Dip' ride
Brother in the Wild would not be the same without an impromptu wild swim. We'll always remember the group that braved the English Channel in April 2017, one of the coldest Aprils we have seen till 2023!
To celebrate 2023 in style, we have curated a 'Sip 'n' Dip' ride, adding it to their list of weekend Brother in the Wild cycle routes. The route will is designed for a leisurely ride, stopping for a wild swim and a beer - we can't wait!

Brother Cycles tough as nails, do it all steel 29er frame, huge amounts of clearance and one of our favourite rigid MTBs available.
Brother Cycles:
‘Our all purpose, tough as nails 29er/27.5+ adventure frame; designed to take you well off the beaten track and beyond. Whether you’re running a lightweight bikepacking setup, front and rear panniers for a fully loaded ’round-the-world’ tour or just stripped back to thrash some forest trails the Big Bro can handle it.
The frame is made out of tough 4130 double butted cro-mo tubing and comes with a 100mm suspension corrected fork, both with corrosion resistant ED coating applied. There’s clearance for big 29 x 2.6″ tyres or up to 3 inch tyres if you’d prefer to go 27.5+. It features stealth dropper routing, rack mounts, bottle mounts on the seat tube, down tube and under the down tube for an extra bottle or storage. The forks also feature triple bottle mounts to fit further bottle cages or Anything Cages. S-bend chainstays with replaceable alloy thru axle sliding dropouts allow for geared or singlespeed setups.
Like all Brother products the Big Bro has been rigorously tested out in the real world – we took prototypes across the South Downs, through Snowdonia National Park and up to the Scottish Highlands. The Big Bro has since completed two of the worlds toughest bikepacking endurance races – the 4,418km Tour Divide from Canada to Mexico and the 1,710km Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan.
