Velo Domestique x Hard Lines: Celebrating Our New House Espresso

To celebrate our partnership in coffee and love for you, our incredible customers, Hard Lines and Velo Domestique giving away 100 FREE COFFEES this Friday (16th of January) from 8am at our cafe in Southbourne!

Hard Lines Coffee is now our house roaster at Velo Domestique — and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

From now on, every espresso we serve — flat whites, americanos, lattes, iced coffees, the lot — will be made using Hard Lines’ House Party espresso. It’s a coffee we know well from working with Hard Lines at events and featuring it as an occasional guest espresso in the cafe — and it’s always had great feedback from our customers.

Why Hard Lines?

First things first: the coffee is excellent.

House Party is a Brazilian Natural, with a smooth, rich and moreish profile. Expect comforting notes of milk chocolate, dried fruit and nuts — the kind of flavours that make it incredibly easy to drink and perfect as an everyday espresso. It works beautifully across the board, whether you’re ordering a silky flat white or a long black.

But there’s more to it than flavour.

Hard Lines are a 1% for the Planet roaster, contributing to environmental causes that protect wild places and support more sustainable futures — something we genuinely admire and are proud to support.

They’re also deeply community-focused. Open, inclusive, and welcoming, with an approach to coffee that’s all about sharing and enjoyment — because what’s better than sharing amazing coffee with those around you? That mindset fits naturally with what we’re building at Velo.

Their cult-like following in Cardiff speaks for itself — built on great coffee, great people, and a genuine passion for the craft.

A Partnership Years in the Making

We’ve had Hard Lines as a regular guest roaster in the cafe since 2019, and the relationship has only grown from there.

From 2022, Dan and Jenny joined the Hard Lines team slinging coffee at Green Man Festival in the Brecon Beacons — an experience that played a big part in inspiring us to take our own little blue caravan out on the road. Since then, we’ve brought Velo Domestique to major UK festivals, including We Out Here, with Hard Lines supplying our coffee for these big events since 2023.

They’ve even had members of their own team jump in alongside us, helping deliver excellent coffee to festival-goers at serious scale — crushing the queue with a smile, and never compromising on quality.

It’s coffee that performs under pressure, tastes great in every format — even in a field. Making Hard Lines our house roaster feels like a natural next step — and one we’re genuinely excited about.
